Welcome from Angela (coordinator) to Bulgaria – Ina and Marguerite
Bulgaria – Ina presents
Bulgaria, presented their recent project.
Showed traditional Bulgarian dance.
English lesson in classroom. Topics; weather, colours. Class sang a song.
PowerPoint Presentation of lesson plan, objectives, the legend, drawing and writing, instructions on how to make a Martinets, photos of display. Video of children making Martinets. Key competencies.
England Presents – Sally
The story they are using is ‘The Tunnel’.
‘The Tunnel’ focuses on sibling rivalry, resolving differences and managing feelings.
Sally noted that it was beneficial to have the eight competencies so as to see where the gaps are so that we as teachers know to focus on them next time.
Activities:
The tangled web, co-operation jigsaw, hot seating, talking like a book-writing like a book and writing activities.
Sally is hoping to get the schools presentation of ‘The Wild Things’ for tomorrow. This was a whole school project. It was very cross-curricular and was done over a whole day.
THEME FOR NEXT MEETING


It was decided that it would be a good idea for us to all work around the same theme for the next meeting. Angela put forward the idea of Respect and Tolerance. This would allow us to bring forward our cultures ideas of respect.
Angela reminded us that we could use a variety of stories we do not need to use just one story. We need to use SHORT stories so that they are accessible for all the countries to use.
Sally suggested that we could use more advanced stories but adapt them for presentation so that they are short and concise for other countries to use.
Native speakers need to ensure all stories are short.
Another idea for next year is that we each work on a different country. Emma thought it would be a good idea for us to decide which country we would like to work on now so that our partners can bring resources for us to use to the next meeting.
Jill put forward the idea of ‘travelling’ around the eight countries in each of our own schools, so that we would cover all the countries.
Emma and Angela thought this might not be a realistic or workable activity for their school as they are the only two English teachers at their
